Porsche 9714 2.0L – SOLD
The Porsche 914 was first launched to the public in 1969, but it wasn’t until 1973 until the more desirable and more powerful 2.0 hit the dealerships. Sold as a Porsche in North America and a VIW/Porsche in Europe it became the affordable entry into exclusive Porsche ownership.
With the prices of classic 356s, 912s and 911s out of the reach of many, the 914 is enjoying somewhat of a renaissance over the last couple of years.
Celebrating its 50th year anniversary since the first 914 was launched, the values of these air cooled classics are set to rise as enthusiasts and collectors seek to own one of these unique icons of automotive history.
This VW Porsche 974 2.0L version has benefited from a life in the sunny and dry state of California until is was repatriated back to Europe in 2015. As a result, it hasn’t suffered from the usual rust issues seen on European cars.
| acquired the car in 2017 and set about a sensitive restoration to retain the essence of a 1973 classic yet enable it to appeal to a new generation of ownership. It has been in my personal collection since.
